      <image:title>About - Meet Brianna Coston</image:title>
<image:caption>I’m a La Mesa native, an LMSV graduate, I currently serve as your Trustee for Area 3 on the La Mesa-Spring Valley School Board. I’ve been board clerk for the last few years and I’m the district’s representative on the La Mesa Community Police Oversight Board, La Mesa Environmental Sustainability Commission, Mt Helix PTA Council and LMSV District Parent Advisory Council. I’m running for re-election to keep the work going to support our students and staff. I grew up in La Mesa and attended La Mesa-Spring Valley schools (La Mesa Dale and Spring Valley Middle) before graduating from Steele Canyon Charter High School where I was the first student admitted into MIT. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Architect from MIT in 2015, with an emphasis on Building technology. My undergraduate thesis rethought how school buildings could adapt to future learning styles which I now get to work on through our Bond projects. After college, I began my career in Architectural and Lighting Design in New York City and the San Francisco Bay Area before moving back to San Diego County in 2018. I recently switched careers to work for a local political compliance firm where I serve as VP of Compliance Operations. I was first elected to the La Mesa-Spring Valley Board of Trustees, representing Area 3 in 2022. Since then, I’ve focused on funding advocacy, mental health, and staff training pipelines.
